Why bring risk intelligence onchain?

At Range, we help secure over $30B in assets across chains. A constant request from our partners - especially lending protocols, treasuries, and bridges - has been to integrate our Risk API at the smart contract level.

Teams wanted a way to:

• Prevent interactions with sanctioned or malicious addresses

• Verify counterparty risk before releasing treasury funds

• Evaluate borrower or user risk onchain

• Enforce KYT (Know-Your-Transaction) compliance logic at the protocol layer

Until now, these checks were only possible off-chain - meaning critical security decisions relied on backend logic or UI-layer heuristics. With onchain risk feeds, we're enabling protocols on Solana to perform this verification directly within their program logic, ensuring it is fully transparent, signed, and trust-minimized.

How it works

The integration uses Switchboard's On-Demand Oracles to fetch a signed quote from Range's Risk API. The data is then verified inside your Solana program - allowing you to gate or allow behavior based on verifiable, up-to-date risk scores.

Here's the flow:

1. The client fetches a signed risk quote from Range via a Switchboard OracleJob

2. The quote includes the score and a signature from Switchboard oracles

3. Your Solana program uses the Switchboard Quote Verifier to verify the signature and extract the result

This approach works seamlessly with Solana's synchronous runtime. The entire data flow is auditable and tamper-proof.

Why use Range's Onchain Risk Verifier
